Poppy Glass Studio Newsletter
It’s nothing short of a miracle that here I am sending out a newsletter the very next month from when I last sent one. Honestly I think I am probably more shocked than you are here.
The studio has been pretty busy, with a range of amazing workshops. I’ve seen ladders, leaded panels and some beautiful suncatchers made by so many wonderful people.
My regular workshops have continued at pace, there are occasionally spaces, read on down to find out about the waiting list that has now been set up for anyone wanting to join one of these sessions.

Craft Fair Thornbury
I’ve also been busy creating some new pieces to take to market. I’m off to the Heritage Craft Fair in Thornbury in July, so come along and say hello. Personally, I am looking forward to checking out knife making, woodturning and calligraphy amongst others. The fair runs all day long and will be located in the high street. I can't wait to see you there.
Some of the new pieces of work that can be purchased from the fair are shown here, there are also mirrors that are a nightmare to photograph but are all one off pieces, so if something catches your eye don’t hang about and miss out.

Well although this isn’t a totally new concept to me, I have been creating some fabulous new designs, I now can share with you giant bees, dragonflies and butterflies. I know, we don’t want to actually meet one of these in real life, but a version in stained glass, either on display in your house or even hanging on a wall outside, now that’s an idea we can all get behind I am sure!

Weekly Workshop Waiting List
We have now launched a whatsapp waiting list.
If you missed it last month - there are times where spaces are available in the regular 2 hour weekly workshops where a student is on holiday or unable to attend for any reason. If you would like to be added to the group, an alert will be sent out letting you know when you can come along and work on your own project. The space is £12 for the two hours, materials are additional.
Anyone interested, please scan the QR code or click the link to join the group. Messages will only be sent when there is a space available.

I want to share a tip I always tell my students both in the regular classes and those with me for just one day making copper foil suncatchers.
When applying the foil, it is important to remember that the glue on the back is a temporary measure. It was never put there for you to rely on it indefinitely. In fact, if its possible it may well break down when you apply heat via the soldering iron. To avoid this being an issue, I get people to take a quick look at the design before they pick up a piece to add the foil. Just check that the place where you plan to start and end your foil will be sandwiched to another piece of glass. That way when you start soldering, even if the heat causes the foil to lift, its got nowhere to go! Sorted.

So there we are, I may see you next month, next year, who knows!
